The goal of the United Artists for Peace include working actively with institutions as well as associations that safeguard human rights, the environment and world ecology in order to improve the living conditions of people in every nation. The association intends to do everything in its power to make Assisi another symbol of peace, a city that can act as a starting point to link up the entire world through the “Peace Festival International project”.

Cultural Association “United Artists for Peace” – Short history
“United Artists for Peace” is a cultural, apolitical, non-party, nondenominational, non-profit association. It was formed in March 1996 (it was recorded at the Registry of deed on the 6 th of March 1996 with the number 1911).
On the 27 th of October 1998 it obtained the public shape with notary deed (Rep. N. 19567/2163 recorded in Perugia on the 28 th of October 1998).
The legal residence is in Via Cimarosa, 26 – 06132 Perugia, Italy and the operative one in Via XX Settembre, 92/d – 06124 Perugia, Italy.
Synthetic indication of the purposes of the Association:
1) to realize concrete initiatives with the aim to promote the Culture of Peace, Cooperation and Ecology, respecting the different social, political and religious visions; 2) to collaborate actively with the Institutions and the Associations operating in humanitarian field; 3) to represent a point of reference for the artists of all the world who want to engage themselves to construct a future of Peace and Solidarity.
Presidency and artistic direction
The President of the Cultural Association “United Artists for Peace” is Sergio Onofri, musician – composer with a long musical experience matured in the USA, organizer of numerous musical an cultural events dedicated to Peace and Ecology, among them the famous “Festival POP” (1972).
In 1996 he initiated and organised the 1st International Peace Festival, choosing as privileged place Assisi, crossroads of cultures and city symbol of Peace and Dialogue.
In 1997 he introduced the Prize “Artist for Peace” conferred to numerous national and international artists for their engagement in social field.
In 1998 he proposed the integrated project “Umbria for Peace”, initiative to be realized in collaboration with Regional, Provincial, Municipal Institutions and with the main Organizations and Humanitarian Associations with the aim to promote the Culture of Peace, Ecology and Solidarity in the Region of Umbria.
In 2001 he organized the “Ecological Weekend”, manifestation that promotes the Environmental and Alimentary Education, finalized to the safeguard of the environment and the public health.
In 2002, among the initiatives of the Ecological Weekend he introduced the “Ecological Walk” on the Mount Subasio for the defence of the environment and the promotion of the territory.
The same year, within the International Peace Festival, he realized the concert – event “United Artists for Peace”.
In 2004, within the Ecological Weekend, he introduced the new acknowledgment, Prize “Brother Sun”, conferred to personalities of international level engaged in Ecology and in the protection of environment.
In 2005 he introduced the initiative “Ecological Weekend – Schools Project”, important occasion to propose to the students healthy styles of life, promote correct alimentary habits and awaken to the respect of the environment.
